On May 19, the representatives of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated in a meeting with experts selected by the European Commission to evaluate the implementation of the Public Finance Management Development Strategy (PFM) 2013-2022.
The experts discussed the implementation of the strategy and the elaboration of a new document for the development of public finance management. In the context of the strategy, the Court of Accounts played an institutional role in the chain of supervision and accountability in the management of public finances, contributing to the consolidation of the Strategy for the development of public finance management both in terms of process and in terms of quality.
The overall objective of the strategy was to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of public financial resources to activities that contribute to the growth and development of the Republic of Moldova and to maintain efficient management of the use of public funds in all areas and sectors of public administration.
The purpose of the meeting was to document the implementation of the strategy in terms of international financial reporting methodologies and standards in the public sector. The experts also spoke about the elaboration of a new PFM Strategy and were informed about the needs of the CoARM, which are reasonable to be included in the new document.
The Court of Accounts has shown its openness and readiness to provide the necessary support in the process of elaborating a new Strategy for the development of public finance management, to the departments within the competence of the CoARM.
Ecaterina Paknehad, Head of the CoARM's Apparatus, noted the importance of providing EU expertise support in the process of reviewing, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the strategy.
We mention that the Public Finance Management Development Strategy contains a synthesis of the planned reforms and the ongoing reforms, by consolidating in a single document several dedicated policy actions and strategies in several critical components of public finance management.
