Official visit of the World Bank delegation

On  April, 3, 2009 the Court of Accounts (CoA) has hosted a delegation of the World Bank, consisting of Ms. Soukeyna Kane, Manager of the Financial Management Operational Services and Quality Department, Europe and Central Asia Region and Ms. Oxana Druta, Analyst on financial management of the World Bank.

Members of the delegation had an official meeting with Mr. Serafim Urechean, Chairman of the CoA and Ecaterina Paknehad, Member of the CoA, Project Leader for cooperation with the World Bank.

Ms. Paknehad reported about the components, stages of implementation of cooperation under the Agreement Grant No.TF014332 of the World Bank for implementation of the Project "Strengthening the capacities of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova". She also informed about the actions to be taken in the process of the project's implementation and the importance of active involvement of all employees of the Court of Accounts responsible for the implementation of all planned actions under the project.

Ms. Kane stressed the importance of cooperation of the supreme audit institution of the country with the World Bank in the process of monitoring the implementation of international projects in the Republic of Moldova and the proper use of funds provided by donors. In this context, she proposed to develop a Twinning partnership with one of the supreme audit institutions of the EU, in order to learn the best practices in auditing EU funds use and to train the CoA's employees.

Serafim Urechean thanked the guests for the confidence granted to the institution, noting the availability of the Court of Accounts to perform audit missions of international projects implementation, advocating for strengthening and deepening relations of cooperation of CoA with the World Bank. The President of the CoA also noted the interest of the institution in initiating and maintaining partnerships with similar institutions of the EU in the context of training the CoA'd staff in auditing of projects implemented in the Republic of Moldova by foreign donors.
