Meeting of liaison officers of the SAI Network from the candidate countries for EU accession

Liaison officers of the Network of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) from candidate and potential candidate countries for accession to the European Union (EU) met within an online working session, on April 26, under the auspices of SIGMA - the joint initiative of of the European Union and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Liaison officers from the Supreme Audit Institutions of Turkey, Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Ukraine, as well as the European Court of Auditors participated in the meeting. SIGMA experts contribute to the consolidation and development of the network, providing the necessary support in the elaboration and adjustment of the Network's documents, the organization of events, etc.

The purpose of the meeting was to examine and discuss two constituent documents of the Network – the Cooperation Framework and the Procedural Guidelines, in order to initiate their review and unification, as well as the adjustment to the enlarged composition, which includes new members (Moldova and Ukraine).

The participants also initiated discussions regarding the adjustment of the Network's Activity Plan for the period 2022-2025 and the identification of new opportunities for cooperation.

An important aspect, discussed, was the practical aspects of organizing the official meeting of the liaison officers of the SAI Network from the candidate and potential candidate countries for EU accession, which will take place in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, this June, in the context of the meeting of the Contact Committee of the SAI in the European Union.

We mention that the Court of Accounts was granted observer status within the Contact Committee in August 2022. At the end of 2022, the CoARM was accepted as a member of the SAI Network of candidate and potential candidate countries for EU membership.
