The fifth stage of cooperation between the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) and the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO) was launched, being signed on April 5, the Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the Project "Strengthening institutional capacities and abilities, organizational and professional of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova to work and communicate in accordance with the principles and standards of INTOSAI”.

Marian Lupu, President of the CoA, mentioned that the support of SNAO will allow the institution to strengthen its capacities in the identified areas, in order to achieve the objectives stipulated in the CoA’s Development Strategy for 2021-2025. The multilateral support provided by SNAO at various stages of the collaboration, since 2007, has allowed the Court of Accounts to become a supreme professional audit institution, operating according to the INTOSAI's international audit standards, said Mr. Lupu.

The Swedish experts will provide support to the CoA in the following areas: establishing the preconditions for the certification of financial auditors, developing managerial and leadership skills, strengthening human resources management, and strengthening the quality assurance/control system.

The new cooperation project will be implemented by the end of 2022 and aims to strengthen the work of the Court of Accounts in important and sensitive areas, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of the progress made in implementing the previous cooperation project.
