The auditors of the Court of Accounts participated in the information session on the Interreg Program

On November 10, the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated in the information session on the financing opportunities within the Interreg Program (European Regional Development Fund) NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021-2027.

The Court of Accounts was represented at this event by the external public auditors, members of the Group of auditors for cross-border cooperation programs financed by the European Union.

The purpose of the information session was to present the basics of the first call for project proposals and to provide information, instructions and advice on the main steps in the preparation of project proposals.

The target groups of the information event organized by the program are potential applicants registered and located in one of the regions eligible for the program:

  • Local, regional authorities and, if it is necessary to achieve the purpose of the project - national authorities;
  • Organizations under public law, such as state/regional institutions, universities and educational institutions, tourism and regional development agencies, cultural and archaeological associations/institutions, natural parks and protected areas management entities and research institutions;
  • Non-profit organizations, such as associations, unions, foundations, private universities if they have the legal status of a non-profit organization, euro regions, European Territorial Cooperation Groups.

We note that for the period 2021-2027 a total budget of 59 million euros is available for projects in the field of research and innovation, adaptation to climate change, disaster risk prevention and resilience, protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure. The share of funding from the European Union in future projects will be 90% from the Interreg fund and 10% co-financing from the beneficiaries.
