PriceWaterhouseCoopers visiting the Court of Accounts

The Court of Accounts hosted a working meeting with PriceWaterhouseCoopers team contracted by the General Directorate for Economic and Financial Affairs of European Commission, having the mission to make an operational assessment of the country, as a part of the previous procedure related to offering a macro-financial grant to Moldova.                         

The work team, consisting of Ilse Schuster and Elisaveta Teneva, met member of the Court of Accounts, Mrs. Ecaterina Paknehad, IT Audit director, Mrs. Natalia Trofim, director of methodology and strategic planning department, Angela Pascaru. The working meeting was also attended by Mr. Oleg Hârbu, project manager within the European Union Delegation in the Republic of Moldova.                                                                                                                                       

The sides discussed the Court of Accounts, history of its appearance and values it complies with, legal framework under which it operates, as well as its organizational structure. The dialogue focused on public finance management issues, external audit, referring, as well, to obstacles and achievements of the Court of Accounts of Moldova.                                                           

During the session, member of the Court of Accounts Mrs. Ecaterina Paknehad told about the Court of Accounts’ receptivity to new experiences and projects, about successful collaborations with other Supreme Audit Institutions from abroad, and also about the partnership with the World Bank.                                                                                                                                                           

Elisaveta Teneva, delegated by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, revealed the importance of its presence in our country, noting that she had been previously carried out missions of this kind in such states as Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo. She also mentioned that the offered assistance is addressed to the states with budget deficits that had been selected to receive grants.                                                                                                                                                      

Besides, the work team showed interest in the operations of the National Bank of Moldova, activity of the Ministry of Finance and Financial Department of the Chisinau City Hall. The working visit will last until May 8.
