The Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) and Transparency International Moldova organized, on May 31, public discussions with the local public authorities (LPA) and civil society in the municipality of Bălți.
The purpose of the event was to increase the understanding of the interested parties regarding the role and mandate of the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) in the country, as well as to discuss the deficiencies and systemic problems identified by the CoARM during the audits carried out in Balti.
The discussions were launched by Alexandru Răileanu, Head of the CoARM’s Audit Division, who presented general information about the role and mandate of the Court of Accounts, as well as details about the audit findings with reference to LPA Bălți and the main problems identified. The participants also discussed the audit recommendations aimed at solving the identified problems, their understanding by the audited entities, the level of implementation of the CoARM’s recommendations, etc.
Finally, the participants noted the importance of organizing such events, which give the LPA the opportunity to discuss all questions focused on the findings and recommendations of the Court of Accounts, their implementation, as well as ways to improve the level of implementation of audit recommendations.
