The visit of the external expert in the field of internal public financial control

The external expert in the field of internal audit and risk management and internal control, Francis Nicholson, visited the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM), on November 15, in the context of the support offered to the Ministry of Finance in the development of the new Development Program in the field of internal public finance control.

Ecaterina Paknehad, head of the CCRM Apparatus, discussed the efficiencies, challenges and progress in the implementation of the internal public financial control system (CFPI) at the national level in accordance with internationally recognized methodologies and standards, as well as with EU best practices. Also, Ms. Paknehad noted the openness of the Court of Accounts and the willingness to support the development of the new CFPI Strategy and its subsequent implementation.

We mention that according to the Moldova - EU Association Agreement, the Republic of Moldova has undertaken to implement the internal public financial control system (CFPI) at the national level, starting a broad reform in the field of internal control and audit in the public sector. The CFPI concept was developed by the European Commission in order to provide a structured and operational model, to assist national authorities in remodeling their own internal control environment and, in particular, to update control systems in the public sector, in accordance with international standards and EU best practices.
