The Swedish National Audit Office visits the Court of Accounts

Today, the work of the Seventh Meeting of the Steering Committee for the Cooperation between Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova and the Swedish National Audit Office was completed.

During two days, the participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, to discuss about common achievements and future prospects of the cooperation between CoA and SNAO.
President of the CoA, Mr. Urechean said that: "Our institution is making daily efforts to become a modern institution in line with European standards". Also, Mr. Urechean noted the usefulness of such cooperation.

In the same context, the Auditor General of SNAO, Jan Landahl congratulated the new members of the CoA Board and expressed willingness to continue the cooperation and provide full support to CoA to become a SAI corresponding to international criteria. Also, Mr. Landahl noted CoA progress and mentioned that in the context of other collaborations SNAO has, the example of the CoA from Chisinau is a successful one.

The sessions focused on the Court of Accounts’ role as an external auditor. The discussions were related to a modern Supreme Audit Institution – an important pillar of public accountability; there have been reviewed the completed sub-projects and further sub-projects set up.

Court of Accounts launched its partnership with SNAO since 2007, during which it received assistance from this institution both in developing the law on the Court of Accounts, as well as staff training, publishing quarterly newsletters, participating at events of INTOSAI and EUROSAI community, etc. The project will last until 2012 with the possibility of being extended.
