Round table “Collaboration between external audit and internal audit: weaknesses, perspectives and consolidation solutions”

The Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated on September 30, in a round table, an event organized by the Ministry of Finance, in an online format. The round table entitled "Collaboration between external audit and internal audit: deficiencies, perspectives and consolidation solutions" brought together about 100 people - representatives of the Court of Accounts, the Ministry of Finance and internal auditors from the public sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, the representative of the Ministry of Finance came with a greeting message for all participants and expressed confidence that the proposed topics and the discussion on collaboration between external and internal auditors will be constructive.

Petru Rotaru, Member of the CoARM, spoke about the importance of strengthening the collaboration between external audit and internal audit and establishing common points of action that will unify the efforts and streamline the results of the work of the two evaluation activities.

The participants in the event addressed the aspects of collaboration and the mechanisms of interaction on the four dimensions included in the agenda of the event, which refer to:

  • planning and coordinating the external/internal audit activity in order to avoid the duplication of efforts;
  • the collaboration of internal auditors with external auditors during an external audit, as well as the use of the work of internal auditors;
  • consideration of the annual action plans and reports of the internal audit activity, sent to the Court of Accounts;
  • exchange of experience and good practices between external auditors and internal auditors.

Regarding the intervention and contribution of the Members present in this discussion, they came with some questions and clarifications regarding the collaboration between external and internal auditors.

In conclusion, Ecaterina Paknehad, Head of the CoARM's Staff, reiterated the openness and reciprocity of systematic collaboration, exchange of experience, but also good practices focused on specific topics of common interest.

At the end of the discussion, the participants expressed their high gratitude for this relevant discussion, but also the fact that this event was a productive and constructive one, which achieved its goal - to strengthen the relations between the two activities.
