Constitution Day – A Commitment to Legality, Accountability and Transparency

On 29 July, the Republic of Moldova marks Constitution Day, an occasion to reaffirm the fundamental values that underpin the organisation of the State and the functioning of public institutions.

Adopted on  July 29,1994, the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova enshrines the principles of the rule of law, the separation of powers, the supremacy of the law, respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as the accountability of public authorities in the exercise of their responsibilities.

As the Supreme Audit Institution, the Court of Accounts carries out its mandate under the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, which establishes its role as an independent external public audit authority serving the public interest. The independent, objective and professional exercise of its constitutional mandate contributes to strengthening accountability in the management of public resources, promoting transparency and integrity in the public sector, and reinforcing public trust in state institutions.

Respect for constitutional values is a shared responsibility of all public authorities. Through its work, the Court of Accounts contributes to strengthening good governance, promoting the efficient and responsible management of public assets and public finances, and fostering a public administration founded on legality, accountability and performance.

On the occasion of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Moldova, the Court of Accounts extends its sincere congratulations and best wishes for good health, peace and prosperity to all citizens.
