On February 1, the representatives of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated in the meeting to establish the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova 2021-2027 Program.
The event was organized by the Romanian Program Management Authority and was held online.
The Court of Accounts, according to the status of a member of the Group of auditors within the cross-border cooperation programs financed by the European Union, will have the role of observer (without the right to vote) in the institutional composition of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the Monitoring Committee.
The Committee carries out its activity according to the Regulation of the European Parliament and includes representatives from the countries participating in the Program. The basic tasks mentioned are:
- selects the projects to be financed within the Program;
- approves the methodology and criteria used to select projects financed under the Program, including any changes thereof;
- examines the progress made regarding the implementation of the Program and the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Program;
- examines the progress made in the project implementation process; etc.
During the constituent meeting, the Rules of Procedure of the Monitoring Committee, were discussed the main characteristics of the first call for projects of the Interreg NEXT Program Romania–Republic of Moldova 2021-2027, the general aspects regarding the project evaluation and selection process, as well as the preliminary sheets of large infrastructure projects were presented.
In the end, the delegations of both states agreed on the next steps in the process of running the Program, to ensure the availability and accessibility of the funds allocated by the European Union for the citizens of the eligible region and maximum efficiency of their use.
