Awarding of distinctions for the leaders of the European Supreme Audit Institutions

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, decorated the presidents of several Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) from European states for their contribution to the development of public audit in the European context and for the professionalism they showed in the exercise of their mandate.

The decoration ceremony took place on September 8, in the context of the anniversary events organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Court of Accounts of Romania.

Thus, as a sign of high appreciation, the President of Romania conferred the "Star of Romania" Order on Mrs. Margit Kraker, President of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Austria, Secretary General of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), Messrs. Klaus-Heiner Lehne, President of the European Court of Auditors, Pierre Moscovici, First President of the Court of Auditors of the French Republic, Janar Holm, Auditor General of the National Audit Office of the Republic of Estonia, Marian Lupu, President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova, José Tavares, President of the Court of Accounts of the Portuguese Republic, Viorel Ștefan, Member of the European Court of Accounts from Romania, as well as Mr. Mihai Busuioc, President of the Romanian Court of Accounts.

In his address, Mr. Iohannis noted the role of audit institutions in the institutional architecture, by promoting responsibility, fairness and financial discipline, which will improve the allocation and use of public resources.
