Actions to implement EU requirements, discussed by the Financial Control Working Group

The representatives of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated today, May 16, in the meeting of Working Group 32 "Financial Control", organized in the premises of the Ministry of Finance.

During the meeting, the participants discussed practical aspects related to the contribution of the institutions to the elaboration of the proposals for the National Action Plan regarding the achievement of the criteria for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union and regarding the implementation of the RM – EU Association Agreement for 2023 – 2027, related to the area of ​​responsibility of Working Group 32.

The proposals are to be developed based on the conclusions of the European Commission (EC) presented in the Reports from June 2022 and February 2023, the commitments of the Republic of Moldova assumed by the Association Agreement and the Association Agenda 2021-2027, as well as the needs to transpose the EU Directives.

We note that, in the context of the contribution for Chapter 32. Financial Control, Section II External Audit, the CoARM has proposed a series of actions, intended to contribute to the fulfillment of EC’s requirements. These actions aim to promote the independence of the CoARM in all aspects: functional, financial and structural and are based on the recommendations of the international peer review evaluation of the Court of Accounts, carried out under the auspices of SIGMA - the joint initiative of the EC and the OECD.
