30 years after gaining independence, the Republic of Moldova remains a fractured state, marked by a series of chronic vulnerabilities and fundamental failures admitted by the governments that have perished in the last three decades. During this period, the Republic of Moldova did not achieve the perspective of a country, state or even nation. As a result, the country is struggling to meet the new development challenges. These are some of the conclusions of the 2021 Country Status Report (CSR): “Republic of Moldova, 30 years of independence”, prepared by the Independent Analytical Center “Expert-Grup” in collaboration with the “Friedrich Ebert” Foundation Moldova.
In this context, the representatives of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated on November 23, in the annual international conference MACRO 2021.
The conference discussed the main conclusions and lessons learned in the 30 years of independence, with emphasis on key successes and failures, missed opportunities and future prospects, as well as priorities for improving the economic, social and governance system.
During the reference period, the Republic of Moldova was marked by three vulnerabilities that have not been resolved to date: the erosion of human capital, technological underdevelopment and structural vulnerabilities.
Participants in the event addressed several topics on the CSR 2021 conclusions, such as economic and social reforms during the 30 years of independence: key conclusions and lessons learned, development perspectives based on the lessons learned in the 30 years of independence, and so on.
We mention that the MACRO-Moldova Conference: Assessing the country's risks and opportunities is an annual event, designed as a platform that brings together local and international policy experts and thinkers, in order to discuss innovative ideas to support the Republic of Moldova on the path to modernization and economic development.
